I came to the Victory Center Women and Children Shelter in January of 2018. I did not have the background that a lot of people have coming in with addictions. Mine was from 20 years of abuse. I lived a very controlling life to the point where I wasn’t allowed to communicate with family and friends. I was not allowed to go anywhere without my now Ex-Husband. I wasn’t allowed to have a job, no cell phone or even access to the internet. My home was under surveillance with over 15 video cameras in all rooms of the house except the bathroom. All the window were locked for the inside and glued and screwed shut. Baby powder was put on the windowsills to watch for finger and shoe prints. Things stated to get physical and eventually I tried to commit suicide in 2015. I spent a week in a mental hospital only to go back to the prison I was in.
I broke free in January 2018. My Ex and I had been arguing and things started to get very physical. I decide to leave to let things cool down. My Ex did not agree. He shoved me out the front door with just the clothes on my back while my three boys slept upstairs. With nowhere to go, I was brought to the Victory Center Women and Children Home. I spent the next few months trying to get my kids and get my life on track. Not all this would have been possible without the help from the Pastors and leaders at Victory Center Ministries. With the help from church services, BIBLE studies and counseling, I might not have made it through everything I was going through.
Two years later and I am a much stronger person. I would not have made it this far without Jesus Christ in my life. I have had many difficulties in these two years but through Christ and the help of the Victory Center, I know that I can do anything. The Victory Center Women and Children Shelter saved my life. I do not know where my children and I would be without them. They are my family and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
In spite of what you are going through give thanks to God for the trials that come your way and when you are no longer moved by your circumstances you have entered a new level in Christ Jesus.

Throughout the years frustration has been setting in with the church sound system and the lack of a skilled tech to run the mixer. Worship is an integral part of this ministry and it's purpose is to engage the audience to help them enter into the presence of God.
Constant disruptions with the sound is definitely a no-no as one small hiccup can ruin the experience for those worshiping and unfortunately if the sound is bad enough some may get offended and leave.
Running a rescue mission can be challenging at times especially when it comes to supplies. Recently, I caught a man on the second floor loading shampoo into the washer, I asked what he was doing and he said we are all out of laundry detergent and he had no other alternatives. This saddened me so myself and another co-worker pulled together our funds and bought detergent for the men. At any given time we provide care for 60 men and women in our facilities and we could not do any of this without your generosity, but sometimes the harsh reality is we run short on supplies leaving us very little options. Currently we are in need of (2) 32 lb containers of laundry detergent. If you would like to partner with us and purchase some laundry detergent here is our shipping / drop off address 505 9th Ave South Clinton, Iowa 52732.
