"Were Here To Help"
"Even though individuals may have a job, they still are having a hard time making ends meet," says Rev. Ray Gimenez, founder of the Victory Center Rescue Mission, which is based in Clinton, Iowa. "We find many people have to make choices between food and other basic necessities like keeping a roof over their heads and that can be a tough decision."
More than 50 percent of the people who are served by Victory Center Rescue Mission are experiencing some kind of hardship say's Gimenez and according to the latest Alice Report over 450,000 Iowa households roughly 37% are struggling to afford basic household expenses.
We are seeing the need and meeting this need head on and we are very grateful to be apart of the Feeding America program which provide us with food so that we can serve two hot meals a day and offer pantry twice a week where patrons can receive the necessary food to sustain them throughout the week. We have wonderful volunteer groups also that come in and prepare nutritious meals and help us during pantry days.
While we are blessed to be in position to help those in need we need funding to keep up with the day to day expenses. Rev. Ray believes "The community need to bring in good paying jobs to help with the problem," but in the meantime we are here to help anyway we can.
